Datganiad i’r wasg: y Caffi Trwsio

Mae’r ysgol, y bobl a’r digwyddiad yn ddychmygol. Ysgrifennwyd y datganiad yn Saesneg gan dîm newyddion yr ysgol, ac yna rhoddwyd y testun cyfan drwy offeryn cyfieithu peiriant am ddim. Mae’r cyfieithiad wedi’i ysgrifennu ar gyfer y wers hon i ddangos y math o gamgymeriadau y mae offer o’r fath yn eu gwneud.

The school, the people and the event are invented. The press release was written in English by the school news team, then put through a free machine translation tool. The translation was written for this lesson to show the kinds of mistake such tools make.

[2] Pupils fix 100 items at first Repair Café

[3] Year 10 pupils at Ysgol Glan Dâr have repaired over 100 broken items for local people at the school’s first Repair Café.

[4] The café opened in the school hall on Saturday 26 September. Residents brought in bikes, toasters, lamps and torn clothes, and pupils worked alongside volunteers from the community to fix them for free.

[5] “We were over the moon,” said pupil Nia Rowlands, 15. “One woman had kept her late husband’s radio for twenty years. When it started playing again, she cried. It was the best day of the term.”

[6] Headteacher Mr Huw Bevan said: “Our pupils have shown that a fair future starts with small changes. This project will run every month, and we hope it will go from strength to strength.”

[7] The next Repair Café will be held on Saturday 31 October from 10:00 until 13:00. Entry is free. Please book a place at the school office.

[2] Disgyblion trwsio 100 eitemau yn gyntaf Caffi Trwsio

[3] Mae disgyblion Blwyddyn 10 yn Ysgol Glan Dâr wedi trwsio dros 100 eitemau wedi torri ar gyfer pobl lleol yn y caffi trwsio cyntaf yr ysgol.

[4] Agorodd y caffi yn y neuadd ysgol ar Ddydd Sadwrn 26 Medi. Daeth trigolion i mewn beiciau, tostwyr, lampau a dillad wedi rhwygo, a disgyblion gweithio ochr yn ochr gyda gwirfoddolwyr o’r gymuned i trwsio nhw am rhydd.

[5] “Roedden ni dros y lleuad,” meddai disgybl Nia Rowlands, 15. “Roedd un fenyw wedi cadw ei gŵr hwyr radio am ugain mlynedd. Pan dechreuodd e chwarae eto, hi llefain. Roedd e’r diwrnod gorau o’r term.”

[6] Dywedodd prifathro Mr Huw Bevan: “Mae ein disgyblion wedi dangos bod dyfodol ffair yn dechrau gyda newidiadau bach. Bydd y prosiect hwn yn rhedeg bob mis, a gobeithiwn y bydd yn mynd o gryfder i gryfder.”

[7] Bydd y Caffi Trwsio nesaf yn cael ei ddal ar Dydd Sadwrn 31 Hydref o 10:00 tan 13:00. Mae mynediad yn rhydd. Archeba dy le yn swyddfa’r ysgol.

For the cover teacher

Text A is the English original; text B is the invented machine translation. Pupils do not need to understand every word of the English: the task is to make B into good Welsh. The full list of errors and a corrected version are in the worked example.
