Lowri’s fitness tests: results and norms

Lowri, her class and every figure on this sheet are invented practice data. The norms tables are made up for this lesson in the style of published tables. Do not use them to rate real fitness. The class results are also in class-sit-and-reach-results.csv.

1. The tests

TestHow it is doneWhat it measures
Sit and reachSit with legs straight and reach forward along a box. Record the furthest point in cm.Flexibility of the hamstrings and lower back

2. Practice norms: girls aged 13 to 14

Take care: in the sprint, a lower time is better. In the other three tests, a higher number is better.

3. Lowri’s results

Lowri is 14. She did the tests in week 1, then followed a 6-week plan: core exercises (planks and sit-ups) twice a week and sprint drills once a week. She did the tests again in week 7.

TestWeek 1Week 7
Sit and reach (cm)2728

Lowri’s notes: “Week 1 was on the school field on a wet, windy day, and it was my first time doing sit-ups against the clock. Week 7 was in the sports hall. A different friend timed my sprint each time.”
