Lowri’s screen time and sleep log

Lowri and every time on this sheet are invented for practice.

1. Why Lowri kept a log

Lowri is in Year 7 in Llandeilo. She feels tired in morning lessons and her phone says her screen time is her phone says her screen time is “up 20% on last week”. She does not know what that means in hours, soldquo;up 2 hours 20 minutes on last weekher phone says her screen time is “up 20% on last week”. She does not know what that means in hours, sordquo;. She wants to see where the time goes, so for one week she wrote down every time she used her phone or tablet for more than a few minutes, the time she turned her light out, and the time she woke up. All times are on the 24-hour clock.

3. What sleep experts say

4. Working with time

Counting on is the safest way to find a time difference. Example: 16:45 to 18:20.

For sleep, count on through midnight. Example: 22:40 to 07:10 is 20 minutes to 23:00, 1 hour to 00:00, 7 hours to 07:00, then 10 minutes: 8 hours 30 minutes.

Remember: 1 hour = 60 minutes, so 130 minutes = 2 hours 10 minutes, not 1 hour 30.
