Print: this sheet, one per pupil. Pupils need a spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc) and the file sample-habits-week.csv, which is the same seven rows printed in the table below. If there are no computers, pupils do every calculation by hand in the answer column and write the formula they would have typed — the data is small enough to do on paper and the formulae are the assessed part.
Run: 5 min — read the data and the two national guidelines aloud · 8 min — type or open the seven rows · 15 min — work down the formula table · 8 min — add the conditional formatting rule and the chart · 10 min — write the two conclusions · 4 min — ask the class what the correlation figure did not prove.
Collect: this sheet with the formula table and both conclusions completed. Spreadsheets are saved into the class folder, not emailed anywhere.
Note: the data is one invented week. Nobody is asked to record or share their own sleep, weight, or eating.
This is the whole of sample-habits-week.csv. In a spreadsheet the headings sit in row 1 and Monday is row 2, so the seven days occupy rows 2 to 8.

You are turning seven rows of numbers into something that answers a question. You will write real formulae, add a rule that colours the days that missed the activity target, draw one chart, and then write two conclusions — one the data supports, and one it does not.
