GCSE Dance
Mae disgrifiad y cymhwyster yn Saesneg yn unig, gan ei fod wedi ei gymryd o fanyleb Saesneg CBAC.
The only compulsory digital demand is the Unit 3 Dance Appreciation paper, a digital only examination that includes an unseen work, so learners must analyse dance on screen and type their answers. Everything else is live and physical, but filming rehearsals, studying professional works on video, editing accompaniment to time and a digital reflective log are the practical routes most learners will take. The biggest thing KS3 should build is watching dance closely on screen, pausing and replaying to name and evaluate what they see in typed answers.

Studying professional dance works on screen and judging video sources
Learners study three set works and should experience professional performance in person or on screen, including staging such as dance for camera. They need to find reliable recordings, use timestamps and understand what a filmed version shows or hides compared with live performance.
DCF: Cyrchu, chwilio a chynllunio cynnwys digidol, Gwerthuso a gwella cynnwys digidol
Paratoi disgyblion
- Blwyddyn 7
- Pupils bookmark a teacher-set playlist of professional clips and note the timestamps where a motif is repeated.
- Blwyddyn 8
- Pupils find an official company video of a professional work, for example by National Dance Company Wales, check it is an official source and note the choreographer and date.
- Blwyddyn 9
- Pupils build a referenced digital study sheet on a professional work with timestamped screenshots of key devices, lighting and costume, and compare it with a dance for camera piece.

Researching a stimulus online and planning choreography digitally
Learners must create a piece in response to a WJEC stimulus, released on the WJEC Portal, after exploring a range of dance forms and contexts. Online research and a digital mood board or plan help them develop ideas and record where they came from.
DCF: Cyrchu, chwilio a chynllunio cynnwys digidol
Paratoi disgyblion
- Blwyddyn 7
- Pupils search for images linked to a simple stimulus such as a storm, adjusting keywords, and paste three into a PowerPoint slide to spark movement ideas.
- Blwyddyn 8
- Groups build a shared PowerPoint mood board in Teams for a stimulus, adding images, words and a clip link, and plan their sections on it.
- Blwyddyn 9
- Pupils use advanced search to research the context of a poem or photograph stimulus, then plan a structured piece in a digital planner with a referenced source list.

Da gwybod
- Performance must be live, page 12: the solo learner "must actively perform in front of a live audience for a minimum of 1 minute 30 seconds", so filmed or dance for camera work cannot replace it.
- Choreography is realised live, page 11: Section 1.1.3 is "Realising their choreography in a live performance", for an audience.
- The reflective log format is open, page 4: it is produced "in a non-prescribed format", so a digital log is allowed but not required.
- The Unit 3 examination is on screen only, pages 4 and 15: "Digital only examination 1 hour 45 minutes" and it includes "an unseen work". No paper version is described in the specification.
- Watching performances on screen is encouraged but not assessed, page 19: "experiences will not be directly assessed".
