VCSE Built Environment

Mae disgrifiad y cymhwyster yn Saesneg yn unig, gan ei fod wedi ei gymryd o fanyleb Saesneg CBAC.

VCSE Built Environment asks learners to know how apps, digital mapping, GIS, photography and drones support site analysis, to research a Welsh building project, and to plan projects and compare options, but most marks come from hands-on trade work. Unit 1 can be sat on screen, Unit 2 responses must be submitted digitally, and Unit 3 practical work reaches the moderator only as photographs or recordings, with no software named anywhere. The single biggest thing KS3 should build is clear photo and video recording of practical work, saved and named so it can stand as evidence, alongside simple spreadsheet planning.

Sut mae'r cymhwyster hwn yn cael ei asesu
  • Unit 1: Introduction to the Built Environment Sector: Examination (sector test) 1 hour, 50 marks, 20%, set and marked by WJEC, paper-based or on-screen
  • Unit 2: The Built Environment in Focus: NEA 6 hours 30 minutes, 50 marks, 20%, set and marked by WJEC, tasks based on a case study released each year on Portal
  • Unit 3: Skills Development and Demonstration: NEA 14 hours, 90 marks, 60%, set by WJEC, marked by the centre and moderated by WJEC, practical tasks in three chosen trades plus an evaluation

Sgiliau sy'n defnyddio Datrys problemau a modelu

  1. Sequencing a project plan and finding the critical path

Asesu: Mewn gwaith cwrs (asesiad di-arholiad)

Learners must evaluate how projects are planned, including the structure of a project plan, planning tools, order of operations, and critical paths and bottlenecks. The specification names no software, but a Gantt chart or flowchart built digitally is a natural way to model this, and Appendix A maps Data and Computational Thinking to this section.

    Paratoi disgyblion

    Blwyddyn 7
Pupils put cards for building a garden shed (base, walls, roof, paint) in order, then draw the sequence as a simple flowchart in PowerPoint.
    Blwyddyn 8
Pupils plan a classroom makeover as a simple Gantt chart in Excel, shading cells for each task over two weeks and marking which tasks cannot start until another ends.
    Blwyddyn 9
Pupils build a Gantt chart in Excel for a small house extension, using formulae for start and end dates, then find the critical path and explain what happens if the roof delivery is two days late.

    Cam cynnydd 3
    • Rwy'n gallu creu a mireinio algorithmau a siartiau llif er mwyn datrys problemau, gan ddefnyddio nodweddion fel dolenni, gwerthoedd Boolean a fformiwlâu.

    • Rwy’n gallu deall pwysigrwydd trefn datganiadau o fewn algorithmau.

    Cam cynnydd 4
    • Rwy'n gallu creu model syml neu algorithm annibynnol.

    • Rwy'n gallu dewis a defnyddio amrywiaeth o dechnegau cynllunio yn effeithiol.

    Cam cynnydd 5
    • Rwy'n gallu creu a dylunio modelau'n annibynnol, ac esbonio sut y maen nhw'n cynrychioli problemau yn y byd go iawn, e.e. dewis dull i gyfleu problem, megis siart lif neu daenlen, a'i ddefnyddio'n gywir.

    • Rwy'n gallu cynllunio fy ngwaith digidol yn effeithiol, a hynny mewn ffordd cynyddol gymhleth.

Cysylltiadau â chymwysterau eraill

Site analysis, land use and flood risk overlap with GCSE Geography, and choosing materials and planning a sequence of work overlap with GCSE Design and Technology, so shared KS3 work on digital maps and spreadsheet comparisons would serve all three.
